ABOUT MS. YOUNG

Welcome to my page! My name is Victoria Young and if you're reading this that likely means that I will be working with you this year in either World Geography or Speech and Debate 2. As a teacher it is my goal to make everything I teach relevant. I can't begin to count how many times I have sat in a class and wondered, "Why does this even matter? When will I ever use this?" It is my hope that my students can leave my class everyday knowing that they learned information or a skill that will be useful and applicable to their lives.

CLEMSON GRAD

At Clemson University I had the opportunity to study under some amazing professionals in the fields of education, history, and the social sciences. Here I gained an appreciation for learning that I hope shows in the classroom. Most Saturdays in the fall I will be a little busy cheering on my Tigers, so if I don't get to your email quickly that may be why!

TRAVELER

It is my life goal to travel to every region in the world, but in the meantime I will continue to simply learn about them. So far I have traveled to the Caribbean and to East Africa. I always try to incorporate my adventures into class and love to hear about trips other people have been on around the world!

BIBLIOPHILE

(n.) a person who collects or has a great love of books

I am always reading something. I have more books than I can actually keep up with reading. I mostly read adventure/mysteries, historical fiction, non-fiction, and the occasional classic. I love to talk about books (especially Harry Potter). I think you can tell a lot about a person based on the books they read and I enjoy using books as a way to get to know others better.

STUDENT

"You learn something new everyday!" Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. Whether you are learning the quadratic formula or how to dab, learning is a part of life. I am constantly learning new things (often from my own students!) and love that I have the access to knowledge that I can use to better my community. At the end of the day, Social Studies is all about learning how to be a citizen in this rapidly changing world. This means learning how to interact in our community, our country, online, and around the world! With a rapidly globalizing society there is always something new to learn!
